A Hawaiian Adventure with Snorkel Buddies!

If you’re looking for something different than just “dozens of snorkelers crowded in a boat”, consider a Snorkel Buddies adventure!

Each Snorkel Buddies adventure is perfect for anyone from “not comfortable in the water” to “swims like a fish” folks. Each adventure is limited to no more than four, plus a guide who is trained and knowledgeable in the marine environment, diving safety and much more.

Each Snorkel Buddy system consists of two battery-powered pontoons, each with a small motor for propulsion, and a boogie board suspended between. The snorkeler is attached to the board by a 20-foot leash to prevent it from going off to explore the Ocean without the snorkeler.

At five to seven miles an hour, it’s a comfortable, safe ride, and your expert guide will do everything possible to place you where you can see and experience exactly what you want, from turtles to dolphins to whatever else is out and around that day.

If you’re looking for something more unique or exclusive than a crowded beach or a crowded boat to enjoy Hawaii’s beautiful Pacific Ocean beach, Snorkel Buddies has your answer!

FAQ

Which islands do you operate from?

Only The Big Island of Hawaii.

How are they powered?

Snorkel Buddies have battery-powered motors that are solar charged.

How far in advance should I book?

As we only can accommodate four guests at a time you’ll want to book as soon as possible.

Can I use my own snorkel gear?

Absolutely! Or we will provide it at no additional charge. If you wear glasses and have a special mask we suggest you bring it.

Do I need a wetsuit?

Wetsuits can provide additional protection from the sun and reduce scrapes and cuts if you come in contact with rocks or reef. If you have a suit, bring it.

Do I have to snorkel?

Many guests prefer to enjoy the water and the company of their friends and family without putting their head in the water. Others want to spear fish or scuba. (We don’t provide the gear for those activities however.)

How long will I be in the water?

4 hours at most. Weather and rough water play a critical role in determining the length of the adventure.

Can the boat sink?

If hit by a torpedo it could ruin your day but our boats are made of rigid PE plastic like many canoes and kayaks. They are sealed and very buoyant. You will also be floating on a large boogie board. The chances of sinking the boat is about ZERO. You, on the other hand can sink if you leave the boat without your leash.

Is there an age or weight limit?

You also must be over 18—or over 16 AND accompanied by your parent. The rated weight limit for each boat is 300 lbs.

Can I take my child (under the age of 16) on the boat with me?

Unfortunately, no.

Can two people take turns on one boat rental?

Yes, however it will change the experience somewhat.
